Henry's Hooligans - Captain: Mary Sweeney

Hello again! Henry here. Can you believe it's already time to start talking about the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk? Time flies!

This has been quite the busy year for me. Want to know why? I'm a big brother for the second time now! His name is Charlie - but I call him Carly. I now LOVE to splash and play in my baby pool and run through the sprinkler in the backyard. My brother, Jack, thinks that's pretty cool because we can play together. My new nickname is the Sir Hugs-A-Lot because I reeeally love to get people to hug. Amazon Alexa and I are best friends because she plays, “I Like to Move It, Move It,” when my parents want to pull their hair out from singing it so much. And I can now count to 10 all on my own!

I'm doing all this great stuff because there is so much support for me and my family here in Lincoln, and much of it comes from a group called the Down Syndrome Association for Families (DSAF). Mom and dad have people to talk to and lean on when they have questions or concerns about me (and my awesomeness, of course!). DSAF organizes fun, family-centered activities that we can all attend together and not worry about me not being able to participate. And for people just starting out in the world of Down Syndrome, DSAF has educational resources for both doctors and parents so everyone can stay calm about the new adventure and know that all us "Homies with an extra Chromie" are going to make waves in this world.

So, here's where we get down to business. Will you register to be a part of my team and help to support the great work of DSAF? Our team goal this year is to raise $4,000. We’ve made it to over $3,000 in the past, so I think we can push it to $4,000 this year! All you have to do is click, “Register On Henry’s Hooligans,” make your pledge, and you’re all set! You even get a free t-shirt out of the deal!

If you have any questions, shoot a text or an email to my mom, Mary. 402-202-0193 or  She knows way more about this stuff than I do.  I hope you can make it out to the Walk on October 6, but if not, know I’m sending you lots of hugs from afar.  Thanks for your support!

- Love, Henry
